GOLD HEART

The five piece band, GOLD HEART, features sisters Analise (mandolin, 20), Jocelyn (guitar, 17) and Shelby (fiddle, 14). They have created a lot of appreciation and respect from the Bluegrass community. Their award winning instrumental ability and their astonishingly accomplished, harmony-laden music is rootsy, yet fresh and exciting!

The GOLD HEART sisters tour extensively and perform as a quintet with their father, Trent on bass and banjoist Russ Carson. The sisters have been strongly gaining attention in the Bluegrass community ever since their formation in 2005. Most recently, they have returned from a major international tour of the United Kingdom.
Gold Heart was invited to perform as a 2009 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Official Showcase Band in Nashville, Tennessee. The Convention took place on September 28, 2009 in the Renaissance Grand Ballroom.

These very musically gifted young artists are also consummate songwriters, who wrote 9 of the 12 songs on the new album, “MY SISTERS AND ME”. Jocelyn pens the majority of the band’s impressive material and was one of three finalists in the 2008 Chris Austin Songwriters Competition (bluegrass category) at MerleFest. “MY SISTERS AND ME” was released August 25, 2009 on Rural Rhythm Records. The album was produced by Justin Carbone, (of Special Consensus) and contains several songs that will be sure to keep Bluegrass radio airwaves busy for years to come and will pave the way for this multi-talented “Emerging Group” to rise very quickly in the acoustic music scene.

Gold Heart is a tight group that will leave a positive impression on you from the first note to the last. They have set a high standard and this group promises to deliver their very best. The Gold Sisters give God above all the glory and they credit Him alone for their talent and inspiration. So hold on and never let go! Jump on board and delight in the “GOLDEN SOUND OF BLUEGRASS!”

 REVIEW IN TODAY'S COUNTRY MAGAZINE

BY: JEFF KURTIS

Harmonies are one of the most important aspects to bluegrass music. Without any drums pounding through the songs in the background, it is the rich voices that have to make up the difference. The tricky thing with harmony is finding the perfect group of people to come together to create them, unless you are dealing with a family band. The harmonies within’ family groups are always spot on and Gold Heart is no exception as they show on their new album My Sisters and Me. In just four short years the female trio grasped their sound and focused hard on their songwriting and it shows the moment you hit play and “Grin And Bear It” wraps around you and captivates you. The musicianship along with their harmony carries you through the song and keeps you wanting more. The good news is that as you dig forward into the album it just keeps coming, as it seems one song gets better than the last. The more mid-tempo paced songs like “Sing A Little Louder,” “Chasing Lightning Bugs,” and “Ride Of Your Life” keep your foot-tapping along with the solid banjo plucking while the slower paced songs like “Amidst Life’ Storm” and “Heavenly Home” see the girls bringing their voices to the forefront of the songs to deliver their very well written lyrics. With plenty of sibling acts out there now what are the factors that makes one stand out from the rest? It is simple, the honesty factor combined with the obvious love for the genre is a good starting point and Gold Heart is clearly a group that loves it.
